Sports Leaders have released a new, updated version of their 'Day Leaders' course, called Go Lead. The course is eight units long, and takes about 7 hours to complete. It is suitable for anyone aged 16+, and if there's enough interest we will be running the course over the summer.

The Go Lead day session is ideal as an introduction for anyone who is interested in working in sport or volunteering as a coach, and it's also ideal for people who are considering taking one of the full-length Sports Leadership courses.

What You Will Learn

  • Unit 1 - What is a Leader?
  • Unit 2 - Communication
  • Unit 3 - Organisation
  • Unit 4 - Working with others
  • Unit 5 - Improvising
  • Unit 6 - Inclusion
  • Unit 7 - Putting it into practice
  • Unit 8 - Where to and what next?

If you're interested in attending one of the courses, speak to Ian at the gym, or send us a message online. Funded places on the course are available thanks to Asda Active, for people who are under 18 and those who are over 18 but still in full-time education. Adults are welcome on the course as well, however there will be a nominal fee. The courses are run by volunteers, and we try to keep costs as low as possible, however we do need to cover the hall and the cost of the qualification itself.
